b. Entries must be submitted in English

d. Submission for entry starts in February. Submission deadlines differ per country. Check out the Competition Website for submission deadlines

e. We are not liable for possible deficiencies of the platform. Please note that we are not responsible for problems regarding computers, networks or any other reasons that may lead to lost, damaged or late entries.

4. What happens next – timeline

After initial entries have been submitted, the competition will be run in accordance with the following indicative timeline. We reserve the right to change any of the timeframes indicated on our competition website.

Step 1: Boot Camp – differs per country
Our local Jury panels select the best proposals entered through the competition website to join the National competitions. Each National competition kicks-off with a 2-day Boot Camp, where our business coaches will teach you all they know on how to jumpstart your business.

Step 2: Intensive coaching sessions and National Finals – differs per country
The Boot Camp is followed-up with six intensive coaching sessions. You will perfect your pitch, value your proposition and business model and pitch in front of your National Jury. The Top-3 of each country will enter the Grand Final.

Step 3: Grand Final
At the Grand Final you will pitch your idea in front of leading investors and entrepreneurs. You will receive valuable feedback and get a chance to discuss your idea in more detail during network sessions.

Important note: if your application is selected you will be asked to confirm your participation to claim your spot in the competition. When accepting your spot in the programme you sign up for compulsory attendance of the full two days of the National Boot Camp, a minimum of 5 of the 6 coaching sessions (either in person or via Skype if you live far away – however we advise to be there in person as it makes the learning experience much richer) as well as the National Final. For last minute cancellation or no-show, a fine of € 500 can be carried out to cover some of the costs that we invested.

5. Selecting the Winner

a. The jury will decide which entry best meets the assessment criteria, as set out on the competition website.

b. Decisions, made by the jury, are final. No correspondence will be entered into. The composition of the jury may vary.

c. Whenever we need to contact you in connection with the competition, we will use the contact information provided by you in the application form. We are not responsible for incomplete or incorrect contact information provided.

d. At the grand final the trainers of ClimateLaunchpad will score every presentation on how far it stuck with the format as taught during the boot camp. This makes sure the participants at the grand final have used the curriculum of ClimateLaunchpad taught during the program, and makes sure existing companies are not at an advantage.

6. The Prize

a. The Top-3 of all National Finals will get a chance to pitch their idea in front of the review board of Climate-KIC Accelerator. If you impress them, you might gain access to Climate-KIC Accelerator, the real life business school where great ideas grow into great businesses.

b. Out of the 15 teams selected in the semi-finals to perform in the final,  a top 10 will be selected by the jury and get direct access to Climate-KIC Accelerator without having to pitch to a review board.

  • In order to receive the prize, the winners may be required to sign up to such terms or agreements as may be required to participate in Climate-KIC Accelerator. Copies of the applicable terms for the Climate-KIC Accelerator can be provided upon request.
  • Climate-KIC Accelerator is structured in three stages, and the winner’s entry will be entered into stage 1.
  • There is no guarantee of progression onto the next applicable stage of any Climate-KIC Accelerator.
  • The level of stipend, support, coaching, master class access, start-up tours and other services provided by a Climate-KIC Accelerator depends on the country or regional Climate-KIC Accelerator the winner decides to enter.

c. The Winner of the Grand Final receives € 10,000, the runner up gets € 5,000 and the idea that comes in third place wins € 2,500 (the “prize”). In addition, the top-10 selected in the semi finals win a place on the Climate-KIC Accelerator (the “prize”), subject to the terms of the applicable Climate-KIC Accelerator. In order to receive the prize, the winners may be required to sign up to such terms or agreements as may be required to participate in Climate-KIC Accelerator. Copies of the applicable terms for the applicable Climate-KIC Accelerator can be provided upon request.

d. The prizes are personal to the winners and not transferable.

e. The winners are responsible for the payment of any taxes and charges on the prize.

f. Unless we say otherwise, you are responsible for all costs and expenses related to your entry into the competition. Every country will try to sponsor your travel expenses to the Grand Final. This is something that you have to check with the national lead in your country once you have been accepted into the programme.

g. We may alter, withdraw or modify the prize at our discretion. There is no cash or monetary equivalent to the prize. The prize is subject to availability, our operating Climate-KIC Accelerator and to the available central funding.

h. Each year we also try to organise an extra pitch opportunity for the semi-finalists: the Theme Awards. The participating teams will get the opportunity to pitch for one of the Climate-KIC Themes: Sustainable Land Use, Urban Transitions, Sustainable Production Systems, and Decision Metrics & Finance. Per Theme, one winner will be selected and receives a cash or in kind prize worth 5.000 euros.
